The pomegranate tree, gifted by Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, to Selso Sabino, Minister of Tourism of Brazil, during the first-ever Tourism Day at COP29, has been planted in the courtyard of Brazil’s first national tourism school.

Minister Selso Sabino shared this event on his Instagram page, highlighting its significance. The tree was planted by Minister Sabino alongside Helder Barbalho, Governor of Pará State, where Belém, the host city for COP30, is located.

The pomegranate sapling symbolizes the continuation of initiatives launched at COP29, emphasizing tourism's role in addressing climate change, and serves as a commitment to furthering these efforts at COP30 in Brazil.

Notably, the sapling was officially presented to the Brazilian Minister on November 23, following a tree-planting ceremony in front of the State Tourism Agency’s headquarters in Azerbaijan.
